What we do
…and did
Jagat, the founder of Samundra Nepal started to help people in 2011, when he built a hospital in Mainapokhari, a small town in the Himalaya. Since then Samundra Nepal has been supporting many initiatives through the great help of their donors and volunteers. See below, what we do… and did.
The main focus is in the remote town of Mainapokhari. The reason: Samundra Nepal is able to mobilize the funds from local governmental institutions, individuals, communities, and non-government organizations their. The local fundraising program runs independently. That gives Samundra Nepal the opportunity to launch projects, which brings sustainable improvement to the people of this small town in the Dolakha District.
In this way we have been able to help 25,000 people
- With the supply of water and food as well as refurbishment and help with reconstruction after the 2015 earthquake.
- By setting up a quarantine and treatment centre during COVID for Baiteshwor rural municipality (RM).
- With the construction of a hospital with an ophthalmology ward and birthing center in Mainapokhari. Since then, people only need 2 hours by car (one day by foot) to receive essential health care.
- To be able to grow kiwi and tumeric, important foods for Nepal. This secures income for the many farming families in the region.
- With the construction of a school in Mainapokhari and the provision of school uniforms and initial equipment.
See below, how our help changed the life of thousands of people and which new projects are initiated. Get a feeling about the difference you can make and how other donors and volunteers helped us to do what we do.
