In February 2012, members and friends of Himalayan Care Hands visited Mainapokhari in Nepal because of the international efforts to resurrect a maternity clinic for the mountain communities. This clinic is badly needed due to the distressing situation in which young mothers die prematurely due to lack of medical care. The welcoming was accompanied by a great Hindu ceremony where a symbolic first stone was laid at the building site. The ceremony was visited by a lot of interested local residents who’s hope relies on HCH for a realization of the clinic. HCH was proud to announce that the budget required for the foundation has been raised by benevolent foreign and Nepalese supporters. So, within a few weeks, the construction works will start. However, for the further construction and medical equipment, there still remains a missing amount of Euro 50,000 for which the foundation will do its utmost best to raise that with many actions and activities. In addition, donors can also own a piece of the clinic by buying a name engraved brick that actually will be used in the walls. Or even roll up their sleeves by volunteering in the project. There are already two Dutch midwives intending to give a special training to women of the villages.
